Autumn & Winter Paddock & Garden Maintenance
We have been in lots of discussions this year with various organisations and combining our knowledge to ensure we move forward with the times and bringing in new and old methods into the equine land sector to mitigate the effects of rising fertiliser and seed costs and look more to maximising output from your existing grass where possible.
Following an extremely dry summer it's now time to be thinking about recovering your paddocks in the autumn for the winter. Things to consider....
Overseeding - including aeration and harrowing.
Spraying - for broadleaf weeds including ragwort.
(New) Seaweed fertilising - *this service is to be price confirmed and following consultation* (no off grazing period)
(New) Mole draining and flat lifting - for drainage and compaction relief helping roots to grow better resulting in better grass yields.
Autumn topping and winter hedge cutting which will continue into February next year and then on to clearance works and moss spraying.
Topping needs to be done now if not already done to promote new sward growth and cut weeds down (although most would of gone to seed by now)

Busy Summer with perfect growing conditions...
It's been an extremely busy summer with perfect growing conditions. The polocrosse field was cut ahead of their event and they had a great long awaited weekend.
Continuing the routine bank and ditch cutting at the golf course as well as all of the commercial clients and private equestrian properties we continue to maintain.

Spraying thistles in a sheep grazing paddock to avoid the devastating effects of Orf (Thistle disease).
BEFORE..
Thistles can cause Orf in sheep and lambs, (sometimes called thistle disease or scabby mouth). Thistle disease is a nasty and highly contagious infection resulting in painful scabs and lesions in and around the mouth, nose and gums.
Thistles cause Orf by causing cuts and scratches on the lips and nose when sheep graze on thistle heavy pasture. These cuts allow the infection to develop and spread. It then becomes highly contagious and can spread throughout an entire flock.
AFTER...
It is important to manage thistles on grazing land to minimize the risks of Orf and the devastating affects it can have on whole flocks.
